Viviana is 10 years old and spends her afternoons exploring science and nature at Ocean Discovery. She’s dissected squid, felt the textures of plants in the canyon, and learned how the ocean keeps our planet alive.
“I love being in nature,” Viviana says. “It makes me feel calm and happy. I’ve learned so much about protecting the ocean, and it makes me want to help. I want to be a scientist. And I want other students to have this experience too.”
For the past four years, Ocean Discovery has been a place where Viviana’s curiosity has grown into confidence and a dream for the future. But opportunities like hers don’t happen by chance.
Programs like the one that changed Viviana’s life are 100% free for every child in City Heights, but they aren’t free to run.
