Become An In-Person Science Leader
We exclusively reach young people from City Heights, a low-income, urban, and racially diverse community. We do this by providing science opportunities, mentorship, and growth mindset tools so that our students can believe, achieve, and lead in science and science-related fields.
We need volunteers, especially those who are racially diverse and willing to share their journey of becoming science leaders! This role is a great opportunity for leaders from all backgrounds and science fields who want to be involved.
About the Opportunity
- This is a 90-minute opportunity, in-person at Ocean Discovery’s Living Lab (4255 Thorn St.).
- Timing is generally 9:30am-11:00am, but your exact timing will be confirmed.
- Your involvement will consist of a series of questions about you and your career, “interview”-style, facilitated by Ocean Discovery staff. Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions.
- The goal of the day’s student program is for our high school students to believe that they are the science leaders our world needs.
- Must be an undergraduate student, graduate student, or professional in science or science-related fields. This includes working for a science company in a non-scientific position.
