Community Programs engage young people, their families, and neighbors within the school-shed to ensure everyone sees science and conservation as relevant to their lives.
Watershed Avengers
Watershed Avengers is the cornerstone of these programs. It is designed to use ocean science, watershed education, and local resources such as canyons, as a platform to teach science and engage participants in environmental stewardship actions. Through participation, young people, their families, and neighbors will learn how the world works and how they can make a difference, while actively transforming the canyons into safe and healthy environments.
Watershed Avengers takes a unique, comprehensive approach that is implemented through:
- Youth-led canyon restoration events
- A student internship
- A cross-sector community alliance
This comprehensive approach is used to create a productive connection between community member’s neighborhood canyons.
