Science Leader – Student Connection

Volunteer as a science leader

We exclusively reach young people from City Heights, a low-income, urban, and racially diverse community. We do this by providing science opportunities, mentorship, and growth mindset tools so that our students can believe, achieve, and lead in science and science-related fields.

We need volunteers, especially those who are racially diverse and willing to share their journey of becoming science leaders! We commit to ensuring the majority of all volunteers reflect the diversity of students in our City Heights community.

About the Opportunity

  • Participate in a 20-minute virtual Q&A, facilitated by Ocean Discover’s Instructors, about your career pathway and journey as a Science Leader. Encourage and answer questions that help students explore science and various career paths.
  • Virtually over Zoom for 20 minutes. A Zoom link will be provided after sign-up.
  • Option to prepare one visual (e.g., photo or photos) to support your conversation (not required).
  • Must be an undergraduate student, graduate student, or professional in science or science-related fields. This includes working for a science company in a non-scientific position.
