Out-of-School Programs

Our out-of-school program is available to students who are part of the Hoover cluster. Kinder to 8th grade students can participate in one week of programming during the Academic Year and one week of Summer Camp during the Summer.

 

Theme: Wonders of the Wetlands!

During the 2026–2027 after-school camp, students will embark on an exciting journey through the Wonders of the Wetlands! As they explore local canyons, they’ll discover the diverse plants and animals that thrive in these unique ecosystems while learning about the Kumeyaay people’s deep connection to the land and its natural resources. Students will also step into the role of community scientists by helping count local bird populations, gaining firsthand experience with real conservation efforts. Throughout the program, they’ll develop a deeper appreciation for wetlands and learn how their own actions can help protect these vital habitats in their community.

This program is designed to spark curiosity, encourage hands-on learning, and create meaningful experiences that build confidence, inspire a love of science, and help every student believe they belong in science.

 

Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm and some weeks from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

                                                                                    

Free transportation is available on certain weeks from the school to our building. Check out the interest form below for the weeks we will be picking up students from their school.

Free meals are provided once the students arrive.

Step 2:

Fill out an application. We need a completed program application before we can pick up your student (during transportation week). Otherwise, your student will not be picked up from school.

Note: Parents must fill out a new program application every academic year.

Step 3:

Have your student be ready to join in on the fun! We will confirm the week before so that your student is ready to join us.

Please let us know if your student cannot join so we can reschedule if needed.

 The following schools can receive tuition-free programming: Adams, Central, Cherokee Point, Edison, Franklin, Hamilton, Joyner, Normal Heights, Rosa Parks, Rowan, Clark Middle School, & Wilson Middle School.
